Team Canada’s Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario has won the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario. In the championship final at Fort William Gardens, Homan defeated Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson 6-1.
This was the least number of points against for a championship final in the history of the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The previous record was three points, set by four different teams. They were accomplished by Marilyn Darte of Ontario in a 6-3 win over Team Canada’s Linda Moore at the 1986 Scott Tournament of Hearts in London, Ontario, by Pat Sanders of British Columbia in a 9-3 win over Team Manitoba’s Kathie Ellwood at the 1987 Scott Tournament of Hearts in Lethbridge, Alberta, by Connie Laliberte in a 7-3 win over Team Canada’s Julie Sutton at the 1992 Scott Tournament of Hearts in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and by Team Canada’s Sandra Peterson in a 5-3 win over Lailberte at the 1994 Scott Tournament of Hearts in Waterloo, Ontario. It should be noted Marilyn Darte is best known as Marilyn Bodogh and Sandra Peterson is best known as Sandra Schmirler.
Homan also had a Scotties final record shooting percentage of 100%. The previous record was 99% by Colleen Jones of Halifax at the 2022 Scott Tournament of Hearts final in Brandon, Manitoba. Jones’s Team Canada rink beat Manitoba’s Sherry Anderson 8-5.
Homan also went undefeated at the 2025 Scotties, as she won all 11 games. Last year in Calgary, Homan also won 11 straight at the Scotties, representing Team Ontario.
This was Homan’s fifth Scotties title, as she previously won in 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2024. She will now represent Canada at the 2025 Women’s World Curling Championship in Uijeongbu, South Korea from March 15-23.
