
Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Abigail Strate of Calgary, Alberta won the bronze medal in a World Cup women’s ski jumping event in Hinzenbach, Austria on Sunday, For Strate, it was her fifth career World Cup individual ski jumping medal.
Strate won the medal on a normal 90 metre ski jump. She posted a score of 226.6 points. Nika Prevc of Slovenia won the gold medal with a score of 244 points. Selina Freitag of Germany won the silver medal with a score of 241.5 points. Strate had 2.6 more points than Lisa Eder of Austria, who was in fourth place with a score of 224 points.
In the World Cup women’s ski jumping standings, Strate is in 16th place with 301 points. Prevc leads with 1533 points.
Strate’s first World Cup women’s ski jumping medal was a bronze medal in Hinterzarten, Germany on January 28, 2023. That was followed by a bronze medal in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany on December 30, 2023, a silver medal in Oberstdorf, Austria on January 1, 2024, and a bronze medal in Villach, Austria on January 3, 2024.
At the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, Strate won a bronze medal in the mixed team event. The bronze medal in Hinzenbach will give her confidence as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
