The Kitchener Rangers have won the 2026 Ontario Hockey League Championship. On Monday, the Rangers won the J. Ross Robertson Cup by sweeping the Barrie Colts four games to none. This is the seventh J. Ross Robertson Cup for the city of Kitchener. They previously won in 1923 as the Kitchener Colts, in 1935 as the Kitchener Greenshirts, and in 1981, 1982, 2003 and 2008 as the Rangers.

In the four game series, the Rangers beat the Colts by a score of 5-2, 4-3, 4-3 and 4-2. In the fourth game, the Rangers received goals from Luca Romano of Toronto, Ontario, Gabriel Chiarot of Hamilton, Ontario, Sam O’Reilly of Toronto, and Christian Humphreys.

It was an excellent 2026 Ontario Hockey League playoff for the Rangers. They swept the Saginaw Spirit four games to none in the first round, beat the Soo Greyhounds in five games in the second round, and beat the Windsor Spitfires in five games in the J. Ross Robertson Cup semifinals.

One reason for the Rangers postseason success is clutch scoring. They have a record of five wins and zero losses in the extra period.

Kitchener’s top scorer in the postseason is O’Reilly. The first round pick of the Edmonton Oilers, who was traded in last year’s offseason to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Isaac Howard, has 17 goals and 11 assists for 28 points in 18 OHL playoff games.

The Rangers now join the Kelowna Rockets in the Memorial Cup. The other two Memorial Cup positions are still to be decided. The Everett Silvertips lead the Prince Albert Raiders in the Western Hockey League Final two games to one, and the  Chicoutimi Sagueneens lead the Moncton Wildcats two games to one in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League Final.
