The original Team Jacobs is being honoured with their own street in Sault Ste. Marie. Ontario according to Bob Davies of Sault This Week on Monday. The street will officially be called “Team Jacobs Way” and will be located on the street that the Your Neighbourhood Credit Union Curling Centre is located. The previous name of the street was called Anita Boulevard.

The Curling Centre was the home rink of Brad Jacobs’s curling team that won gold at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi. Jacobs, who is of Sault Ste. Marie, teamed up with his cousins, E.J. and Ryan Harnden of Sault Ste. Marie. E.J. was the second and Ryan was the lead. The other regular player on Jacobs’s curling team that won Olympic gold 12 years ago was third Ryan Fry of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The fifth was Caleb Flaxey of Scarborough, Ontario, and their coach was Tom Coulterman of Sault Ste. Marie.

At the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, Team Jacobs finished in second place in the round robin with a record of seven wins and two losses. They then beat China’s Rui Liu 10-6 in the semifinal, and then Great Britain’s David Murdoch 9-3 in the gold medal game. It was the first of two Olympic gold medals for Jacobs. He also won gold at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
