The Edmonton Elks signed offensive lineman David Foucault of Montreal, Quebec on Monday according to 3downnation.com. This was the first significant move that new Elks general manager Chris Jones has made from a player perspective since rejoining Edmonton on December 21.

The Elks become the third Canadian Football League team Foucault has played for in his career. He was previously with the British Columbia Lions from 2017 to 2019, and with the Montreal Alouettes in 2021. Foucault played in 13 games with the Alouettes last season before being released on December 20, five days before Christmas Day.

Foucault was initially selected in the first round, fifth overall in the 2014 Canadian Football League Draft by the Alouettes out of the University of Montreal. He was the third offensive lineman selected in the 2014 CFL Draft, behind Pierre Lavertu of Quebec City, Quebec, who was selected first overall by the Calgary Stampeders out of Laval University, and Matthias Goosen of Richmond, British Columbia, who was selected second overall by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers out of Simon Fraser University.

Instead of joining the Alouettes initially, Foucault played three seasons from 2014 to 2016 with the Carolina Panthers. He was actually part of the Panthers team that played in Super Bowl 50, which lost 24-10 to the Denver Broncos.
