Blues center Jordan Kyrou named NHL first star of the week

St. Louis Blues center Jordan Kyrou of Toronto, Ontario was named the NHL first star of the week for the week from December 27 to January 2 on Monday according to nhl.com. In only two games, Kyrou had three goals and four assists for seven points.

In Kyrou’s first game of the week, he had one goal and two assists for three points in a 4-2 Blues win over the Edmonton Oilers on December 29. He then had two goals and two assists for four points during the Winter Classic on January 1–a 6-4 Blues win over the Minnesota Wild from Target Field in Minneapolis. A total of 38, 619 spectators attended the contest in frigid Minneapolis temperatures. The game was played at -23 degrees Celsius.

Kyrou also scored the game winning goal in the 2022 Winter Classic. It came with two minutes and two seconds left in the second period and put the Blues up 5-1 at the time. In the two games, Kyrou was also  a +4 with one power play point, seven shots on goal, two blocked shots and one faceoff win. On the season, Kyrou now has 12 goals and 20 assists for 32 points in 29 games.

The Blues now lead the Central Division with 43 points. They have a record of 19 wins, nine regulation losses, and five losses in extra time. They have one more point than the second place Nashville Predators.
