Darcy Kuemper of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is getting more and more comfortable with the Arizona Coyotes. On Saturday, Kuemper recorded his first shutout of the 2019-20 National Hockey League regular season and 17th NHL shutout with a 3-0 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

Kuemper made seven saves in the first period, 17 saves in the second period and nine saves in the third period. Cale Makar of Calgary, Alberta led the Avalanche with five shots on goal.

Kuemper has put up outstanding numbers for the Coyotes in 2019-20. He has a record of six wins and three losses with a goals against average of 1.67 and a save percentage of .942. Of his 17 career shutouts, seven have come with the Arizona Coyotes. He also has seven shutouts with the Minnesota Wild and three shutouts with the Los Angeles Kings.

Kuemper seems to be the 1A goalie in Arizona as he is in a tandem with Antti Raanta. So far in 2019-20, Raanta is 2-1-1 with a goals against average of 2.96 and a save percentage of .914.

The Coyotes currently have a record of eight wins, four regulation losses and one loss in extra time. Despite being four games above the .500 mark, the Coyotes are only in sixth place in the tightly contested Pacific Division. Arizona is only four points back of the first place Edmonton Oilers, with the Coyotes playing in Edmonton on Monday.
