The Colorado Avalanche acquired center Nazem Kadri of London, Ontario from the Toronto Maple Leafs with defenseman Calle Rosen and a third round draft pick in the 2020 National Hockey League Entry Draft for defenseman Tyson Barrie of Victoria, British Columbia, centre Alexander Kerfoot of Vancouver, British Columbia and a sixth round draft pick in the 2020 National Hockey League Entry Draft on Monday.

Kadri had 16 goals and 28 assists for 44 points in 73 games with the Maple Leafs in 2018-19. He also was a -2 with 43 penalty minutes, 13 power play points, five game winning goals, 184 shots on goal, 403 faceoff wins, 13 blocked shots, 85 hits, 42 takeaways and 47 giveaways. Kadri had spent the full 10 seasons with the Maple Leafs. Rosen meanwhile had one goal in four games for Toronto in 2018-19.

Barrie has spent his entire career (eight seasons) with the Avalanche. Last season in 78 games, he had 14 goals and 45 assists for 59 points. He was also a -3 with 36 penalty minutes, 25 power play points, two game winning goals, 218 shots on goal, 93 blocked shots, 48 hits, 28 takeaways and 41 giveaways.

Kerfoot has spent the last two seasons with the Avalanche. In 2018-19, he had 15 goals and 27 assists for 42 points. In 78 games, he was a -9 with 38 penalty minutes, 16 power play points, one game winning goal, 116 shots on goal, 274 faceoff wins, 29 blocked shots, 2 hits, 22 takeaways and 30 giveaways.

The addition of Kerfoot has significant meaning. Due to the fact he is a centre, the Maple Leafs may now strongly consider saying goodbye to their leading scorer last season in Mitch Marner.
