After a tough start to the 2021-22 National Hockey League regular season, the Vancouver Canucks decided to fire several people on Sunday. They included head coach Travis Green of Castlegar, British Columbia, assistant coach Nolan Baumgartner of Calgary, Alberta, general manager Jim Benning of Edmonton, Alberta, and assistant general manager John Weisbrod.

The new Canucks head coach will be Bruce Boudreau of Toronto, Ontario according to the Athletic. He will work alongside new assistant coach Scott Walker of Cambridge, Ontario, interim general manager Stan Smyl of Glendon, Alberta, and interim assistant general manager Ryan Johnson of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Vancouver is dead last at the moment in the Pacific Division with 20 points. They have a record of nine wins, 15 regulation losses, and two losses in extra time.

The Canucks become the fourth team that Boudreau has coached. He also won the Jack Adams Trophy with the Capitals in 2008.

As a player, Boudreau spent seven seasons in the NHL as a centre with the Toronto Maple Leafs and Chicago Black Hawks. He had 28 goals and 42 assists for 70 points in 141 games from 1976 to 1986.
