Brooke Henderson in contention at the 2023 Lotte Championship in Hawaii

Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ontario is in contention at the 2023 Lotte Championship in Ewa Beach, Hawaii. Heading into the fourth and final round on Saturday, Henderson is at -6 and three strokes back of the leader, Yu Jin Sung of South Korea, who is in first place at -9.

Henderson had a third round score of -3. She had six birdies and three bogeys. Henderson birdied the second, third, fifth, sixth, seventh, and 10th holes, and bogeyed the fourth, 13th, and 17th holes.

Henderson’s first round score on Wednesday was -1. There she had four birdies, one bogey and one double bogey. Henderson birdied the sixth, 10th, 11th, and 18th holes, bogeyed the 12th hole, and double bogeyed the 17th hole.

Henderson’s second round score on Thursday was -2. There she had five birdies and three bogeys. Henderson birdied the third, seventh, 11th, 17th, and 18th holes, and bogeyed the 14th, 15th and 16th holes.

After Sung there is a three-way tie for second place at -8. There you find Grace Kim of Australia, Linnea Strom of Sweden, and Georgia Hall of England, the 2018 Women’s British Open champion.

There is a four-way for fifth place. There you find Americans Christina Kim and Lauren Hartlage, Japan’s Nasa Hataoka, and Thailand’s Natthakritta Vongtaveelap.

Henderson is in a five-way tie for fifth place. There you also have Bailey Tardy of the United States, France’s Celine Boutier, China’s Siyun Liu, and Chinese Taipei’s Peiyun Chien.

Twice before Henderson has won the Lotte Championship in Hawaii. The first time came in 2018 where she shot a four-round score of -12 to beat Spain’s Azahara Munoz by four strokes. The second time came in 2019 where she shot a four-round score of -16 to beat South Korea’s Ji Eun-hee by four strokes.

Henderson is a two-time major champion. She first won the 2016 Women’s PGA Championship and then won the 2022 Evian Championship.
