Andrew Wiggins of Toronto, Ontario has been traded from the Minnesota Timberwolves to the Golden State Warriors according to Bleacher Report. Wiggins was traded alongside two draft picks for D’Angelo Russell, Jacob Evans and Omari Spellman. One of the draft picks that is going the Warriors way is the second round draft pick in the 2021 National Basketball Association Draft. The other draft pick is protected by Minnesota for 2021 if they are among the top three teams in the draft lottery. If they are among the top three teams in the lottery next year, the Timberwolves get to keep their first round pick, and then the Warriors will get the Timberwolves first round pick in 2022.

Wiggins is averaging 22.4 points per game in 2019-20. He is also posting career highs in rebounds per game (5.2) and assists per game (3.7).

Wiggins now joins a Warriors team that is giving up on 2019-20, as they have the worst record in the NBA at 12 wins and 40 losses. However, the sixth year small forward who was selected first overall in the 2014 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, is joining a Warriors squad that should be among the best again in 2020-21. That is because Golden State will have stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson back from injuries.

Russell meanwhile was the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers. He is joining his fourth NBA team. In addition to the Warriors, Russell played two seasons each with the Lakers and Brooklyn Nets. This year with the Warriors as a shooting guard, he was averaging 23.6 points per game.
