This past Tuesday, prior to the Montreal Alouettes’s 37-18 loss at home to the Toronto Argonauts in week six action, the Alouettes signed two Canadians to contracts. They were kicker Michael Domagala of St. Catharines, Ontario, and defensive end Anthony Federico of Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Domagala is joining his third Canadian Football League franchise. He was previously with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 2021 and 2022, and the Ottawa Redblacks in 2023. This past season, he made eight of nine field goals, with the longest coming 46 yards in a 27-22 Redblacks loss to the Argonauts on October 28. For his career, Domagala has made 27 field goals in 35 attempts. He had a career-long 52 yard field goal in a 30-13 Tiger-Cats loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders on June 11, 2022.

Federico is joining second franchise after playing the last two seasons with the Tiger-Cats. In 23 games with Hamilton (10 in 2022 and 13 in 2023), he had 10 special teams tackles. The most special teams tackles Federico has had in a game was two, and came in a 48-31 Tiger-Cats win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on September 17, 2022. Federico was in the lineup for the Alouettes in their aforementioned loss to the Argonauts on Thursday.

Domagala and Federico both went to universities in Ontario. Domagala attended Carleton, and Federico attended Queen’s.
