
Tyler Mislawchuk of Winnipeg, Manitoba won the gold medal on Sunday in a World Cup Triathlon in Huatulco, Mexico. For Mislawchuk, it was his 10th career World Cup medal. He has won four gold medals, three silver medals, and three bronze medals.
Mislawchuk had a winning time of 53 minutes and 20 seconds. Sullivan Middaugh of the United States won the silver medal with a time of 53 minutes and 28 seconds. Vinicius Avi Santana of Brazil won the bronze medal with a time of 53 minutes and 35 seconds. Mislawchuk reached the podium by 18 seconds over Reese Vannerson of the United States, who had a fourth place time of 53 minutes and 38 seconds.
Mislawchuk’s swim time was exactly nine minutes. He then had a transition time from the water to the bike of 45 seconds, a cycling time of 28 minutes and 40 seconds, a transition time from the bike to the run of 11 seconds, and a run of 14 minutes and 43 seconds. Mislawchuk had the fastest transition time and had the fastest run.
This was Mislawchuk’s third medal of the season. He won a bronze medal in the men’s event in Chengdu, China on May 9, and a bronze medal in the mixed relay in Chengdu on May 10.
Mislawchuk has had great success in Huatulco, as he previously won the gold medal there in 2019 and 2021. The gold medal for Mislawchuk in Mexico will give him confidence as he prepares for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
