Tampa Bay Lightning center and captain Steven Stamkos of Markham, Ontario made Tampa Bay Lightning history on Thursday in an 8-1 Tampa Bay Lightning clobbering over the Toronto Maple Leafs. According to the Athletic, Stanmkos registered his 954th point, which was the most points ever by a Lightning player. Stamkos broke the record previously set by Martin St. Louis of Laval, Quebec, who had 953 points with the Lightning in 972 games from 2000 to 2014.
Stamkos collected three points in the Lightning win over the Maple Leafs (one goal and two assists), and now has 956 points (473 goals and 483 assists). His franchise record-setting point put the Lightning up 3-0 at the time. It was a goal from Nikita Kucherov and Victor Hedman.
Stamkos has played his entire NHL career with the Lightning. Twice he led the NHL in goals during the regular season. He had 51 goals in 2009-10, and 60 goals in 2011-12. In addition to points, Stamkos is the all-time leader for the Lightning in goals (473), even strength goals (290), power-play goals (178), game-winning goals (71), and hat tricks (nine).
On the season, Stamkos has 34 goals and 56 assists for 90 points. He is also is a +18 with 30 penalty minutes, 30 power-play points, nine game-winning goals, 219 shots on goal, 509 faceoff wins, 28 blocked shots, 87 hits, 28 takeaways, and 21 giveaways.
The Lightning are in third place in the Eastern Conference. With a record of 47 wins, 22 regulation losses, and eight losses in extra time, they have 102 points.
