Colorado Avalanche goaltender Scott Wedgewood collected his eighth career National Hockey League shutout on Monday. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Avalanche win over the Chicago Blackhawks at the Ball Arena in Denver, Colorado.

Wedgewood made 20 saves overall. He made five saves in the first period, seven saves in the second period, and eight saves in the third period. Blackhawks centre Connor Bedard of North Vancouver, British Columbia led Chicago with five shots on goal.

Offensively, it was another strong game for Avalanche centre Nathan MacKinnon of Halifax, Nova Scotia. MacKinnon had two assists. His first assist was his 1000th NHL point. MacKinnon now has a multi-point game in four straight games.

In 11 games this season, Wedgewood has a record of seven wins and four losses with a goals against average of 2.03 and a save percentage of .922. This was his second shutout of the season. The first came on December 8 in a 4-0 Avalanche win over the New Jersey Devils.

Of Wedgewood’s eight NHL shutouts, three have come with the Devils, two each have come with the Dallas Stars and Avalanche and one with the Arizona Coyotes. The Avalanche are in third place in the Central Division. They currently have 80 points.
