Ryan O’Reilly of Clinton, Ontario led the St. Louis Blues to a 2-1 win over the Boston Bruins in game five of the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals from Toronto Dominion Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday. O’Reilly was the only player with a multi-point game as he had one goal and one assist for two points. With the win, the Blues took a three games to two lead in the best out of seven series.

O’Reilly scored the first goal of the hockey game at the 55 second mark of the second period from Canadian Olympic gold medalist Alex Pietrangelo of King City, Ontario and Zach Sanford. Pietrangelo won a gold medal for Canada in men’s hockey at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

O’Reilly then registered an assist on the Blues game winning goal by David Perron of Sherbrooke, Quebec at 10:36 of the third period which put St. Louis up 2-0 at the time. Tyler Bozak of Regina, Saskatchewan registered the other assist. The goal was controversial because just before Perron scored, Bozak tripped Noel Acciari of the Bruins, but the infraction was not called.

The series now shifts to St. Louis on Sunday night. With a win, the Blues will win their first Stanley Cup in franchise history.
