Audrey Leduc of Gatineau, Quebec will be competing in the women’s 200 metre Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium on Friday. Leduc qualified despite finishing tied for 15th place in the Diamond League standings in 2026 with six points.
The reason why Leduc is in the final is because there were eight withdrawals from the event. Those sprinters not competing are Shaunae Miller-Uibo of the Bahamas, Shericka Jackson of Jamaica, Gabrielle Thomas of the United States, Sha’Varri Richardson of the United States, Dina Asher-Smith of Great Britain, McKenzie Long of the United States, Adaejah Hodge of the British Virgin Islands, and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the United States.
Leduc’s best performance during the Diamond League season this year was a third place finish in Morocco on May 31. Leduc had a time of 22.41 seconds, as she was behind American Cambrea Sturgis, who won the gold medal with a time of 22.21 seconds and American Kayla White, who won the silver medal with a time of 22.28 seconds.
In all there will be three Canadians competing in the Diamond League Finals this weekend. Sarah Mitton of Liverpool, Nova Scotia will be competing in the women’s shot put, and Marco Arop of Edmonton, Alberta will be competing in the men’s 800 metres.
