The St. Louis Blues have named Robert Thomas of Aurora, Ontario their team captain on Wednesday starting in the 2026-27 National Hockey League regular season according to Rogers Sportsnet. Thomas will be the 25th captain in the history of the Blues organization. Of those 25 captains, 23 captains have been Canadians.
Thomas has spent the last eight seasons with the Blues. In 530 games since 2018, he has 132 goals and 328 assists for 460 points, was a +68 with 172 penalty minutes, 110 power-play points, 11 shorthanded points, 23 game-winning goals, two hat tricks, 827 shots on goal, 3709 faceoff wins, 235 blocked shots, 98 hits, 342 takeaways, and 417 giveaways.
Both hat tricks came this past season. The first was on April 5 in a 3-2 Blues win over the Colorado Avalanche and the second was on April 16 in a 5-3 Blues win over the Utah Mammoth.
In 2025-26, Thomas had 25 goals and 39 assists for 64 points in 64 games. He was a +22 with 24 penalty minutes, 14 power-play points, three shorthanded points, four game-winning goals, 102 shots on goal, a NHL high 24.5 shooting percentage, 547 faceoff wins, 40 blocked shots, 10 hits, 31 takeaways and 96 giveaways. Thomas was a NHL All-Star in 2023-24, and won a Stanley Cup with the Blues in 2019.
