Despite an even-par round on Friday, Roger Sloan of Calgary, Alberta remains in contention at the 2020 Wyndham Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina. After 36 holes, Sloan is at -8, and two strokes back of the leaders, in a tie for 10th place.

In Sloan’s second round, he had five birdies and five bogeys. He birdied the fifth, eighth, 12th, 15th, and 16th holes, and bogeyed the first, sixth, seventh, 10th, and 13th holes.

There was a four-way tie for the lead at -10 after round two. The quartet consists of Si-woo Kim of Seoul, South Korea, Talor Gooch of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Billy Horschel of Grant-Valkaria, Florida, and Tom Hoge of Statesville, North Carolina. The most significant names among the four are Kim and Horschel. Kim won the 2017 Players Championship, while Horschel won the 2014 Tour Championship.

The five players who are one back of the leaders after round two are Harris English of Valdosta, Georgia, Andrew Landry of Port Neches, Texas, Doc Redman of Raleigh, North Carolina, Harold Varner III of Akron, Ohio, and Shane Lowry of Clara, Ireland. The biggest name at -9 is clearly Lowry, who won the 2019 British Open. The reigning Claret Jug champion had the best score on Friday as he shot a seven-under par 63. That was still one shot higher than Sloan’s score on Thursday, as the Calgarian had a personal PGA Tour best score of eight-under 62.
