Quebec wins six gold medals on Saturday at 2023 Canada Winter Games

Quebec is set to win the 2023 Canada Winter Games when it comes to the overall medal total and on Saturday, they won six more gold medals. The golds medals came in boxing, judo and snowboarding. In all as of Saturday, Quebec has won 56 gold medals, 41 silver medals and 51 bronze medals for 148 medals overall.

The boxing gold medals came from Talia Birch of Vaudreuil-Dorion (female 52 kilograms), Jeremy Drapeau of Quebec City (male 57 kilograms), and Vincent Santoriello of Quebec City (male 75 kilograms). In the gold medal bouts, Birch defeated Ruqaya Nawaz of Burlington, Ontario 2-1 as the referee stopped the contest, Drapeau defeated Brody Andrie of Red Deer, Alberta 2-1 on a split decision, and Santoriello defeated Joshua Antwi of Scarborough, Ontario 2-1 as the referee stopped the contest. The bronze medalist in the female 52 kilograms was Tessa Scott of Saint John, New Brunswick. The bronze medalist in the male 57 kilograms was Simon Joseph Romero of Welland, Ontario. The bronze medalist in the male 75 kilograms was Mike Gosine of Tors Cove, Newfoundland.

Quebec won the gold medal in the male and female team judo competitions. In the male judo team event, Ontario won silver, and Alberta and British Columbia shared bronze. In female judo team event, Alberta won silver, and New Brunswick and Ontario shared the bronze medal.

In male big air snowboarding, Eli Bouchard of Lac Beauport, Quebec won the gold medal with 188.6 points. Laurent Ethier of St-Placide, Quebec won the silver medal with 180.8 points. Tosh Krauskopf of Smithers, British Columbia won the bronze medal with 177.6 points. Bouchard reached the podium by 23.6 points over Colin Hunter of Holland Landing, Ontario who finished in fourth place with 165 points.
