Predators trade Tanner Jeannot to the Lightning

According to nhl.com, the Nashville Predators traded Tanner Jeannot of Oxbow, Saskatchewan to the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday. In return the Predators received defenseman Cal Foote, a third, fourth, and fifth round pick in the 2023 National Hockey League Entry Draft, a second round draft pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft, and a conditional first round pick in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.

This is the third NHL season for Jeannot. In 56 games this season, he has five goals and nine assists for 14 points. Jeannot has 85 penalty minutes, is a -1 with one game-winning goal, 87 shots on goal, five faceoff wins, 51 blocked shots, 213 hits, 24 takeaways and 23 giveaways. Jeannot’s game-winning goal came in a 2-1 Predators win over the Winnipeg Jets on January 24.

Jeannot’s 85 penalty minutes this season are fifth most in the NHL. He is only behind Montreal Canadiens defenseman Arber Xhekaj of Hamilton, Ontario (who has 101 penalty minutes), Philadelphia Flyers left winger Nicolas Deslauriers of Lasalle, Quebec (99 penalty minutes), Florida Panthers defenseman Brandon Montour of Brantford, Ontario (87 penalty minutes) and Tampa Bay Lightning left winger Patrick Maroon (87 penalty minutes).

Jeannot was also third in the NHL with 130 penalty minutes in 2021-22. He was only behind Predators defenseman Mark Borrowiecki  of Ottawa, Ontario (151 penally minutes) and Maroon (134 penalty minutes). The Lightning currently are third in the Atlantic Division with 78 points.
