Mikael Kingsbury wins World Cup moguls silver in Italy

Canadian Olympic gold medalist Mikael Kingsbury of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec won the silver medal in a World Cup moguls event in Livigno, Italy on Tuesday. Having a World Cup moguls event scheduled on a Tuesday is actually very rare.

Kingsbury posted a score of 82.9 points. Ikuma Horishima of Japan won the gold medal with a score of 85.37 points. Charlie Mickel of the United States won the bronze medal with a score of 80.14 points. Kingsbury reached the podium by 3.74 points over Nick Page of the United States, who was in fourth place with 79.16 points.

This was the final World Cup moguls event of the season. Kingsbury was the Crystal Globe champion with 755 points. Horishima was second with 598 points.

This was Kingsbury’s 12th World Cup men’s moguls medal of the season. He has won eight gold medals and four silver medals.

In all, Kingsbury has now won a remarkable 141 World Cup medals. He has won 98 World Cup gold medals, 33 silver medals and 10 silver medals.

Kingsbury’s final men’s moguls event of the season is on March 19 at the World Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding Championships in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Kingsbury has won 13 medals at the World Championships (eight gold, three silver and two bronze).

Kingsbury won the Olympic gold medal in men’s moguls at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. The silver medal in Livigno will give Kingsbury confidence as he prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
