
Megan Oldham of Newmarket, Ontario won the World Cup women’s slopestyle skiing silver medal in Laax, Switzerland on Friday. This was Oldham’s eighth World Cup medal. She has won three gold medals, two silver medals, and three bronze medals.
Oldham posted a score of 72.8 points. Ailing Eileen Gu of China won the gold medal with a score of 81.22 points. Mathilde Gremaud of Switzerland won the bronze medal with a score of 72.59 points. Oldham reached the podium by 2.13 points. Flora Tabanelli of Italy finished in fourth place with a score of 70.67 points.
In the World Cup women’s slopestyle skiing standings, Oldham is in second place with 109 points. Gremaud leads with 140 points.
This was the second of five World Cup women’s slopestyle skiing competitions during the 2024-25 season. The first was in Stubai, Austria on November 23. Tess Ledeux of France was the champion, with Oldham finishing in ninth place. The top Canadian was Olivia Asselin of Quebec City, Quebec, who finished in eighth place.
There are three more women’s slopestyle skiing World Cup events this season. They are in Aspen, Colorado on February 1, Stoneham, Quebec on February 22, and Tignes, France on March 14. The World Cup women’s slopestyle skiing silver medal will give Oldham confidence as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
