Jordan Binnington of Richmond Hill, Ontario notched his 10th career National Hockey League shutout and second shutout of the 2021-22 NHL regular season on Sunday. The 28-year-old made 30 saves as the St. Louis Blues beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-0 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Binnington made 12 saves in the first period, 11 saves in the second period, and seven saves in the third period. Alex DeBrincat led the Blackhawks with six shots on goal.

Two Canadians meanwhile led the Blues in scoring. David Perron of Sherbrooke, Quebec had two goals, and Brayden Schenn of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan had two assists. The two other Blues who scored were Jordan Kyrou of Toronto, Ontario, and Pavel Buchnevich.

With the shutout, Binnington improves to a record of 13 wins, 10 regulation losses, and three losses in extra time. He has a goals against average of 3.12 and a save percentage of .904. Binnington’s other shutout this season also came against the Blackhawks. On October 30, Binnington made 25 saves as the Blues beat the Blackhawks 1-0.

Binnington is looking to rebound after a horrendous stretch of three straight games earlier this year where he gave up 18 goals in losses to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Calgary Flames and New Jersey Devils. The Blues are in second place in the Central Division with 70 points.
