The Guelph Storm have eliminated the Prince Albert Raiders from the 2019 Memorial Cup. On Tuesday at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the Storm got three points each from Nick Suzuki of London, Ontario and Isaac Ratcliffe of London, Ontario en route to a 5-2 victory. Suzuki had two goals and one assist and Ratcliffe had one goal and two assists.

Defenseman Sean Durzi of Mississauga, Ontario also had a multi-point game for the Storm as he notched two assists. The other Storm goal scorers were Liam Hawel of Arnprior, Ontario and Fedor Gordeev.

With the win, the Storm improved to a record of two wins and one loss. They also have a mathematical chance of still finishing in first place after the round robin and going directly to Sunday’s final. However they would need the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League champion Rouyn-Noranda Huskies to not only beat the host team Halifax Mooseheads on Wednesday, but to beat them by two or three goals. If Rouyn-Noranda beats Halifax by one goal, they would need to score five goals or more for Guelph to advance to the final. Otherwise, if the Mooseheads only lose tonight by one goal and score three goals or less, they still advance to Sunday’s final. Rouyn-Noranda would be in the final if they beat the Mooseheads by four goals or more. All of the scenarios become irrelevant if Halifax beats Rouyn-Noranda as they will remain undefeated with a perfect record of three wins and zero losses.
