Darcy Kuemper records 34th career NHL shutout

Darcy Kuemper of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan recorded his 34th career National Hockey League shutout. He accomplished the feat in a 3-0 Los Angeles Kings win over the Washington Capitals at crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, California on Thursday.

Kuemper made 21 saves for the shutout. He made 10 saves in the first period, seven saves in the second period and four saves in the third period. Pierre-Luc Dubois of Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec led the Capitals with six shots on goal.

Two Canadians scored for the Kings. Warren Foegele of Markham. Ontario scored the game-winning goal at 13:08 of the first period from Trevor Moore, and Quinton Byfield of Newmarket, Ontario scored at 1:52 of the third period.

In 2024-25, Kuemper had a record of 21 wins, eight regulation losses and seven losses in extra time. He has three shutouts, a goals against average of 2.23 and a save percentage of .916. Of Kuemper’s 34 shutouts, 10 have been with the Arizona Coyotes, seven have been with the Minnesota Wild, six each have been with the Washington Capitals and Los Angeles Kings, and five have been with the Colorado Avalanche.

With the win, the Kings improve to a record of 35 wins, 20 regulation losses and nine losses in extra time for 79 points. They are in second place in the Pacific Division.
