Colorado Avalanche trade Tyson Jost to the Minnesota Wild

The Colorado Avalanche have traded Tyson Jost of St. Albert, Alberta to the Minnesota Wild for center Nico Sturm on Tuesday according to TSN. Jost had played his entire National Hockey League career until now with the Avalanche since the 2016-17 season.

In 59 games with Colorado in 2021-22, Jost had six goals and eight assists for 14 points. He was a +1 with 30 penalty minutes, one shorthanded point, 76 shots on goal, 118 faceoff wins, 29 blocked shots, 44 hits, 29 takeaways, ands seven giveaways. Jost’s lone shorthanded point this season was an assist on a goal by Valeri Nichushkin at 6:39 of the first period in a 7-3 Avalanche win over the Seattle Kraken on November 19, 2021. Nichushkin’s goal put the Avalanche up 2-0 at the time.

Also in the Avalanche win over the Kraken, Jost had his only multi-point game of the 2021-22 regular season as he had two assists. Jost’s second assist in the game came on a goal by Nicolas Aube-Kubel of Slave Lake, Alberta, which put the Avalanche up 7-0.

Sturm meanwhile has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 2021-22. The Wild currently have the fourth best record in the Central Division. With a record of 34 wins, 20 regulation losses, and four losses in extra time, for a total of 72 points overall.
