The Vancouver Canucks won the opening game of the second round of the 2024 National Hockey League Stanley Cup playoffs on Wednesday, and they did so in a come from behind fashion. Down 4-1 with three minutes left in the second period, the Canucks scored four unanswered goals and came away with a 5-4 win.

The Canucks goal scorers during the comeback were Elias Lindholm, J.T. Miller, defenseman Nikita Zadorov and Conor Garland. Lindholm and Zadorov were traded to Vancouver during the regular season in separate trades with the Calgary Flames.

Four Canucks had a multi-point game. They were Dakota Joshua (one goal and two assists for three points), Lindholm and Zadorov (one goal and one assist for two points), and defenseman Carson Soucy of Viking, Alberta (two assists). Soucy is one of only two Canadian natives who played in the game. The other was left winger Phillip Di Giuseppe of Toronto, Ontario.

During the game there was some concern regarding the health of Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl. He missed eight minutes of the second period because of a possible back problem. Draisaitl did return for the third period, and it will be interesting to monitor his health as the series moves forward. Game two is Friday night in Vancouver.
