Team Canada has won the gold medal at the 2026 Women’s Flag Football World Championships in Dusseldorf, Germany. On Sunday, Canada defeated the United States 27-20 for their third gold medal in the history of the World Flag Football Championships.

In the three times Canada has won the gold medal, they beat the United States in the gold medal game. They defeated the Americans 31-18 at the 2010 Women’s Flag Football World Championships in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and then beat the Americans again 32-31 at the 2014 Women’s Flag Football World Championships in Grosetto, Italy.

Canada has now won five medals in the history of the Women’s Flag Football World Championships. Canada has won three gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze medal.

In Sunday’s gold medal game, Canada and the United States scored 14 points each in the first half. Then in the second half, Canada outscored the United States 13-6. The Americans were driving with their final possession, and got the football deep into Canadian territory, but could not score a game-tying touchdown.

Two Canadians recorded touchdowns. Frederique Morneau of Quebec City, Quebec had three touchdown catches and Caroline Moquin-Joubert of Saint-Lambert, Quebec had one touchdown catch. Meanwhile, Canadian quarterback Sara Parker of Greenfield Park, Quebec had four touchdown passes, passed for 104 yards in the gold medal final, and had 23 touchdowns in the tournament. It was no surprise that Parker was the world championship most valuable player.
