Canada wins three gold medals at the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships

Team Canada has won three gold medals at the 2026 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Irvine, California. The Canadian gold medalists were Alexanne Lepage of Vernon, British Columbia, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Summer McIntosh of Toronto, Ontario and Blake Tierney of Mississauga, Ontario.

Lepage won gold in the women’s 200 metre breaststroke, McIntosh won gold in the women’s 400 metre individual medley and Tierney won gold in the men’s 100 metre backstroke. In all, Canada won 13 medals during the meet. They won four silver medals and six bronze medals. The silver medals came from Tierney (men’s 200 metre backstroke), McIntosh (women’s 200 metre freestyle and women’s 200 metre individual medley) and Taylor Ruck of Kelowna, British Columbia (women’s 100 metre butterfly). The bronze medals came from Ethan Ekk of Burnaby, British Columbia (men’s 200 metre backstroke), Ruck (women’s 100 metre backstroke and women’s 50 metre butterfly), the women’s 4×100 metre freestyle relay team, the women’s 4×200 metre freestyle relay team and the mixed 4×100 metre medley relay team.

Lepage posted a winning time of 2:21.73. Kate Douglass of the United States won the silver medal with a time of 2:22.57, and Kaylene Corbett of South Africa won the bronze medal with a time of 2:22.97.

McIntosh posted a winning time of 4:28.01. Jenna Forrester of Australia won the silver medal with a time of 4:31.50, and Agostina Hein of Argentina won the bronze medal with a time of 4:32.54. McIntosh’s time of 4:28.01 was a Pan Pacific Swimming Championship record. Elizabeth Beisel of the United Stares had the old record as she had a time of 4:31.99 at the 2014 Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Gold Coast, Australia.

Tierney posted a winning time of 53.18 seconds. Will Modglin of the United States won the silver medal with a time of 53.37 seconds and Jack Aikins of the United States won the bronze medal with a time of 53.46 seconds.

McIntosh’s Olympic gold medals at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris came in the women’s 200 metre butterfly, women’s 200 metre individual medley and the women’s 400 metre individual medley. The gold medals for McIntosh, Lepage and Tierney will give them confidence as they prepare for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
