
Team Canada has improved to a record of five wins and one loss at the 2022 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Geneva, Switzerland. On Tuesday, Canada defeated Hungary 10-1 and the Czech Republic 10-4.
The Canadian team of Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta bounced back with two victories after losing 8-4 to Scotland. In Canada’s win over Hungary, Canada got off to a fantastic start, as they went up 6-0 after three ends. Hungary scored one point in the fourth end with the power play, before Canada scored four unanswered points in the fifth and sixth ends to win by nine.
In Canada’s win over the Czech Republic, Canada got off to another fantastic start. Like their game against Scotland, Canada had a 6-0 lead after three ends. The Czechs responded with three points with the power play in the fourth end, before Canada outscored the Czechs 4-1 in the final three ends to win comfortably by six points.
In Group B, Canada is alone in second place with a record of five wins and one loss. Scotland is the only team in the entire tournament undefeated at six wins and zero losses. Italy leads Group A at five wins and one loss. They lost their first game on Tuesday, as they were beaten 7-4 to Sweden.
