Adam Hadwin of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan is only one shot off the lead after 54 holes of the 2019 Royal Bank of Canada Canadian Open from the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario on Saturday. Hadwin shot a three-under par 67 in round three and sits tied for fourth place at -12.

Hadwin is tied with Shane Lowry of Ireland and Brandt Snedeker of the United States. They are one shot back of Americans Webb Simpson and Matt Kuchar and Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland. Meanwhile, Henrik Stenson of Sweden is all alone in seventh place at -10, and three shots back of Simpson, Kuchar and McIlroy.

Of the players in contention, three are major champions. McIlroy won the U.S. Open in 2011, PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014 and British Open in 2014. Simpson won the U.S. Open in 2012 and Stenson won the British Open in 2016.

Hadwin moved up from sixth to fourth in the standings. In round three, he bogeyed the second hole before registering birdies on the fifth, 13th, 15th and 17th holes. The 13th hole at the Canadian Open is unique because course marshals are dressed up as referees and fans are standing behind hockey boards as players tee off. Fans are also even encouraged to hammer the boards when it is time to cheer. The last time a Canadian won the Canadian Open was Pat Fletcher in 1954.
