
The Chicago White Sox have traded second baseman Lenyn Sosa to the Toronto Blue Jays according to Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors on Monday. Sosa was traded from the White Sox to the Blue Jays for minor league outfielder Jordan Rich of Pembroke Pines, Florida, and either a player to be named later or cash considerations.
Sosa has played the last five seasons with the White Sox. In 2025, he had a career season. Sosa had career highs in runs scored (57), hits (137), doubles (20), triples (one), home runs (22), runs batted in (75), walks (18), total bases (225), sacrifice flies (three), batting average (.264), on base percentage (.293), and slugging percentage (.434). He also had two stolen bases, and one sacrifice bunt in 140 games, 518 at bats and 544 plate appearances. The native of Puerto Ordaz, Venezuela had a sacrifice bunt in a 7-3 White Sox win over the Houston Astros on May 2, 2025. Ironically, Sosa’s triple came in a 7-1 White Sox win over the Blue Jays on June 20, 2025.
This season, Sosa is batting .212 with zero home runs and three runs batted in. During 12 games, 33 at bats and 33 plate appearances, hew scored two runs and had seven hits, 10 total bases, an on base percentage of .212 and a slugging percentage of .303.
The Blue Jays are at six wins and nine losses. They are two and a half games back of the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees for first place in the American League East.
