For the first time ever, there will be a WNBA regular season game played outside the United States in 2025. According to The Canadian Press on Monday, the Atlanta Dream will play the Seattle Storm at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia on August 15.

A WNBA franchise is coming to Canada. However, the Toronto Tempo will not begin play until the 2026 season. In the past, the WNBA have had exhibition games in Toronto, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta.

Rogers Arena has hosted professional basketball in the past. The Vancouver Grizzlies played at Rogers Arena (at the time called General Motors Place) from 1995 to 2001 before the franchise moved from Vancouver to Memphis.

The game between the Dream and Storm is expected to feature a Canadian. On the current Dream roster is Laeticia Amihere of Mississauga, Ontario. A forward, Amihere was not very productive in 2024. In her second WNBA season, she only averaged 1.2 points per game and 1.7 rebounds per game, with a field goal percentage of .269, and a very poor free throw percentage of .294. Amihere only made five free throws in 17 attempts.

The Dream also made the WNBA postseason even though they were 10 games below .500 at 15 wins and 25 losses for a winning percentage of .375. The Storm were at 25 wins and 15 losses.
