According to Rogers Sportsnet on Monday, Canadian Olympic gold medalist Sidney Crosby of Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia is donating 120,000 pounds of food to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank in the American state of Pennsylvania. The 120,000 pounds of food will be able to create 100,000 meals to people in need during this horrific time period of the coronavirus.

There are currently 52, 817 cases of coronavirus in the state of Pennsylvania. There are also 2,845 deaths. Pennsylvania has the sixth most cases of coronavirus among all states in the United States. They are behind New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Illinois, and California.

Crosby won a gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver and at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.  At the time of the National Hockey League coronavirus pause, Crosby had 16 goals and 31 assists for 47 points in 41 games. He was a -8 with 15 penalty minutes, 17 power play points, four game winning goals, 109 shots on goal, 494 faceoff wins, 17 blocked shots, 28 hits, 26 takeaways, and 25 giveaways.

This is the first time in Crosby’s career of 15 NHL seasons that he has more takeaways than giveaways. The Penguins meanwhile are in third place in the Metropolitan Division with a record of 40 wins, 23 regulation losses and six losses in extra time for 86 points.
