Reilly Smith scores his first career NHL postseason overtime winner

Vegas Golden Knights right winger Reilly Smith of Mimico, Ontario recorded his first career overtime winner in the National Hockey League Stanley Cup Playoffs on Thursday from Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta. Smith scored from Paul Stastny of Quebec City, Quebec, and Nick Cousins of Belleville, Ontario at 7:13 of the extra period. With the 4-3 win, the Golden Knights now lead the Chicago Blackhawks two games to none in the Western Conference first-round playoff series.

Smith, who now has five points in the first two games of the series, was one of three Canadian-born players to have a multi-point game for the Golden Knights on Thursday. The others were Stastny (one goal and one assist), and Jonathan Marchessault of Quebec City, Quebec (two assists).

Two other Canadians recorded a multi-point game on a winning team on Thursday. In the game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Tampa Bay Lightning from Toronto, Pierre-Luc Dubois of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec notched two assists as the Blue Jackets defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 3-1. With the win, the Blue Jackets and Lightning are now tied at one game apiece.

Meanwhile, Canadian Olympic gold medallist Corey Perry of Peterborough, Ontario notched one goal and one assist for two points as the Dallas Stars beat the Calgary Flames 5-4 in Edmonton. With the win, the Stars and Flames are tied at one game apiece. Perry won the gold medal for Canada at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, and the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.
