The Ottawa Charge have qualified for the Walter Cup Finals for the second consecutive year. After losing to the Minnesota Frost in four games a year ago in the finals, the Charge qualified for the 2026 Walter Cup Finals when they eliminated the Boston Fleet three games to one on Sunday in the best out of five Professional Women’s Hockey League semifinal series.
It was a dramatic win for the Charge in game four as they won by a score of 4-3 at Toronto Dominion Place in Ottawa, Ontario. Michela Cava of Thunder Bay, Ontario scored the game-winning goal at 1:12 of double overtime. Katerina Mrazova had the lone assist. It was Cava’s first goal in 21 games (17 regular season games and four playoff games) with the Charge. She was traded from the Vancouver Goldeneyes to the Charge on January 18. Cava was part of the Frost team that won the 2025 PWHL Finals.
Cava led the Charge in scoring with two points as she had one goal and one assist. She was one of four Canadians to score for the Charge. The other three were Sarah Wozniewicz of Cochrane, Alberta, Rebecca Leslie of Ottawa, Ontario, and Brooke Hobson of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Game five of the other PWHL semifinal series goes Monday night. Montreal is facing Minnesota at Place Bell in Laval, Quebec with the series deadlocked at two.
