Ontario reaches 132 medals at the Canada Games

Team Ontario continues to lead the medal standings at the 2002 Canada Summer Games in Niagara Falls, Ontario. On Thursday, they won three gold medals, five silver medals and five bronze medals for 13 medals overall.

Ontario’s gold medals came in canoeing and diving. In the female K1 200 metres canoeing event, Sarah Nagy of Aurora, Ontario won the gold medal with a time of 41.889 seconds. Alina Tverie of Lachine, Quebec won the silver medal with a time of 42.408 seconds. Kristiane Free of Calgary, Alberta won the bronze medal with a time of 42.582 seconds.

In the mixed K2 500 metre canoeing event, Cameron Low of Toronto, Ontario, and Nagy won the gold medal with a time of 1:46.543. Marie-Pier Halle of Lachine, Quebec and Justin Lavigne of Montreal, Quebec won the silver medal with a time of 1:49.011. Lily Baert and Cole Parsons of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia won a bronze medal with a time of 1:50.896.

In the male platform diving, Ciro Media of Toronto, Ontario won the gold medal with a score of 308 points. Kash Tarasoff of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan won the silver medal with 292.05 points. Arnaud Goulet of St-Bruno-de-Montarville, Quebec won the bronze medal with 287 points.

Ontario now has 132 medals. They have 53 gold medals, 40 silver medals and 39 bronze medals.
