According to TSN on Thursday, eight-time Brier representative Mike McEwen of Winnipeg, Manitoba will be joining a team from Saskatchewan during the 2023-24 curling season. He is teaming up with third Colton Flasch of Biggar, Saskatchewan, second Kevin Marsh of Regina, Saskatchewan, and lead Dan Marsh of Regina.

This will be the third straight year that McEwen is representing a different province. In 2023 it was Ontario, and in 2022, it was Manitoba.

McEwen actually represented Manitoba at seven straight Briers from 2016 to 2022. His best result was a third place finish at the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier in St. John’s, Newfoundland. This past year while with Ontario, he reached the 3-4 game in the page playoff system in London, Ontario. McEwen’s team also reached the final of the 2017 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials in Ottawa, Ontario. He lost 7-6 to Alberta’s Kevin Koe.

Flasch meanwhile has six Brier appearances himself. He was part of the Koe team in Alberta as a second that won the silver medal at the 2019 World Men’s Curling Championship in Lethbridge and the title at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier in Brandon. In 2022, Flasch skipped a team from Saskatchewan at the Tim Hortons Brier in Lethbridge, and finished fourth. The 2024 Tim Hortons Brier will be in Regina.
