Max Moffatt wins World Cup men’s slopestyle skiing event in France

Max Moffatt of Guelph, Ontario won the silver medal in a World Cup men’s slopestyle skiing event in Tignes, France on Saturday. The race was actually cancelled on Saturday due to poor weather, so organizers used the qualifying standings from Thursday as the World Cup results.

Birk Ruud of Norway won the gold medal with 88.5 points. Moffatt won the silver medal with 87.25 points. Jesper Tjader of Sweden won the bronze medal with 86 points. Moffatt reached the podium by 2.75 points over Mac Forehand of the United States and Andri Ragettli of Switzerland, who were tied for fourth place with a score of 84.5 points.

Moffatt is currently in third place in the World Cup men’s slopestyle skiing standings with 175 points. Ragettli leads with 250 points and Ruud is in second with 200 points.

This was Moffatt’s third World Cup medal in his career. He previously won the gold medal in Seiser Alm, Italy on January 27, 2019, and a silver medal in Stubai, Austria on November 20, 2021. In addition to his two World Cup medals, Moffatt won the silver medal at the 2022 Winter X Games in Aspen.

The World Cup men’s slopestyle skiing event in Tignes this past weekend was the fifth of sixth World Cup events in 2021-22. The sixth and final World Cup race will be in Silvaplana, Switzerland on March 26.
