
Canadian Olympic bronze medalist Marion Thenault of Sherbrooke, Quebec won a World Cup women’s aerials bronze medal in Lake Placid, New York on Saturday. For Thenault, it was her 11th World Cup medal. She has now won four gold medals, three silver medals, and four bronze medals.
Thenault posted a score of 90.94 points. Mengtao Xu of China won the gold medal with a score of 95.52 points. Danielle Scott of Australia won the silver medal with a score of 95.17 points. Thenault comfortably reached the podium by 10.32 points. Anhelina Brykina of Ukraine finished in fourth place with a score of 80.62 points.
This was the first of seven women’s World Cup aerials events on the circuit this season. The others will be in Lac-Beauport, Quebec on January 25 and again on January 26, in Deer Valley, Utah on February 7, in Beidahu, China on February 23, in Almaty, Kazakhstan on March 2, and Livigno, Italy on March 13.
Thenault won her bronze medal at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing in mixed team aerials alongside Miha Fontaine of Magog, Quebec and Lewis Irving of Quebec City, Quebec. The bronze medal in Lake Placid will give Thenault some confidence as she prepares for the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo.
