Jaden Schwartz collects seventh career NHL hat trick

Seattle Kraken centre Jaden Schwartz of Wilcox, Saskatchewan recorded his seventh career National Hockey League hat trick on Saturday. He accomplished the feat in a 4-2 Kraken win over the Los Angeles Kings at the Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Washington. Schwartz’s six prior hat tricks were with the St. Louis Blues.

Schwartz opened the scoring at the 28 second mark of the first period from Kaapo Kakko. He then put the Kraken up 2-1 at 7:40 of the first period from Matty Beniers and Kakko. Schwartz then closed out the scoring with a goal with one minute and 10 seconds left in the third period into an empty net. Meanwhile, Chandler Stephenson of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan scored the game-wining goal at 1:37 of the second period for Seattle.

Schwartz’s first NHL hat trick came on October 18, 2014 in a 6-1 Blues win over the Anaheim Ducks. He also scored thrice in a game on April 3, 2015 (7-5 Blues win over the Dallas Stars), on October 18, 2017 (in a 5-2 Blues win over the Chicago Blackhawks), on March 19, 2019 (in a 7-2 Blues win over the Edmonton Oilers), on April 20, 2019 (in a 3-2 Blues win over the Winnipeg Jets in game six of the first round), and on May 19, 2019 (in a 5-0 Blues win over the San Jose Sharks in game five of the 2019 Western Conference finals).

This season, Schwartz has 16 goals and 17 assists for 33 points in 47 games with the Kraken. He was also a +2 with 16 penalty minutes, six power-play points, five game-winning goals, 111 shots on goal, 11 faceoff wins, 27 blocked shots, 29 his, 22 takeaways, and 26 giveaways.
