Maple Leafs centre Bobby McMann collects first career NHL hat trick

Toronto Maple Leafs centre Bobby McMann of Wainwright, Alberta collected his first National Hockey League hat trick on Tuesday. He accomplished the feat in a 4-1 Maple Leafs win over the St. Louis Blues at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario.

McMann opened the scoring at 5:33 of the first period. Noah Gregor of Beaumont, Alberta got the assist. Then in the third period, McMann scored two Toronto goals. He put the Maple Leafs up 3-1 from defensemen T.J. Brodie of Chatham, Ontario and Simon Benoit of Laval, Quebec at 8:02, and then closed out the scoring from defenseman Mark Giordano of Toronto and David Kampf into an empty net with one minute and 39 seconds left.

Undrafted, McMann signed a two-year entry level with the Maple Leafs on May 1, 2022. He is earning $775,000 this season.

In his second season with the Maple Leafs, McMann has five goals and five assists for 10 points in 27 games. He is a -2 with 10 penalty minutes, 42 shots on goal, one faceoff win, eight blocked shots, 52 hits, six takeaways, and three giveaways.

With the win, the Maple Leafs improved to a record of 27 wins, 16 regulation losses, and eight losses in extra time for 62 points. They are four points up on the New Jersey Devils for a playoff spot.
