
There are four teams undefeated at two wins and zero losses in Pool A at the 2025 Montana’s Brier in Kelowna, British Columbia. Of the four, are the only two Manitoba teams in the tournament as Matt Dunstone and Reid Carruthers of Winnipeg won the last two days. On Saturday, Carruthers and Dustone came through with dominant performances as Carruthers beat Ty Dilello of Newfoundland 14-2, and Dunstone beat Shane Latimer of Nunavut 13-2. So far after two games, Carruthers has outscored his opponents 20-7, and Dunstone has outscored his opponents 19-4.
In Dunstone’s win over Latimer, it was a dominant first half of the game for the Winnipeger, as he outscored Latimer 9-1. It was equally as a dominant performance by Carruthers, who led Dilello 9-0 after five ends.
The other two undefeated teams at 2-0 are Northern Ontario’s John Epping and Team Canada’s Brad Gushue. Epping beat Alberta’s Kevin Koe 9-5, and Gushue beat Cameron De Jong of British Columbia 5-3.
In Pool B, there was a very dominant and unexpectedly strong performance by Ontario’s Sam Mooibroek, who trounced Team Quebec 11-4. Mooibroek had a five ender in the second end. Quebec is skipped by 2006 Brier champion Jean-Michel Menard, who throws third stones. Other Saturday winners were Team Alberta’s Brad Jacobs, who beat Yukon 10-3, Nova Scotia, who beat Saskatchewan’s Rylan Kleiter 7-2, and Saskatchewan’s Mike McEwen, who beat Prince Edward Island 6-4.
