Laurie Blouin wins World Cup silver in slopestyle snowboarding in Switzerland

Canadian Olympic silver medalist Laurie Blouin of Quebec City, Quebec won a World Cup silver medal in Silvaplana, Switzerland on Sunday. The second place finish came in a women’s slopestyle snowboarding event.

Blouin posted a score of 90.2 points. Anna Gasser of Austria won the gold medal with a score of 95.4 points. Kokomo Murase of Japan won the bronze medal with a score of 87.2 points. Blouin reached the podium by 10 points over Tess Coady of Australia, who had a fourth-place score of 80.2 points.

By finishing in second place in Switzerland, Blouin finished in second place in the World Cup standings in women’s slopestyle snowboarding with 240 points. The World Cup women’s slopestyle snowboarding champion for 2021-22 was Murase, who had 320 points.

Blouin won the silver medal for Canada in women’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang. However at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games in Beijing, she just missed the podium by finishing in fourth place.

In addition to her Olympic silver medal, and second place finish in women’s slopestyle snowboarding during the 2021-22 World Cup season, Blouin is a two-time world champion. She won gold in women’s slopestyle snowboarding at the 2017 World Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding Championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain, and then gold in women’s big air snowboarding at the 2021 World Freestyle Skiing and Snowboarding Championships on Aspen, Colorado.
