Kerri Einarson of Gimli, Manitoba won her fourth consecutive Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Sunday. From the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, British Columbia, Einarson’s Team Canada squad defeated Team Manitoba 10-4 in the championship final.

The gold medal game of the Canadian National Women’s Curling Championship was very competitive up until the ninth end. That is when Team Canada blew the game wide open with a five-ender. The biggest difference on the night was at the skip position. Einarson curled 89%, while Manitoba skip Jennifer Jones was only at 69%.

This was the second victory for Einarson on Sunday. In the semifinal, Einarson’s Team Canada squad defeated Northern Ontario 7-5. This was the second consecutive top three finish for McCarville. She was second last year to Einarson, in McCarville’s hometown of Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Einarson becomes the second Canadian to skip a team to four consecutive Scotties Tournament of Hearts titles. The first was Colleen Jones of Halifax, Nova Scotia, who won four straight years from 2001 to 2004. Einarson’s first Scotties title was representing Manitoba in 2020 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Einarson then won again in Calgary, Alberta in 2021.

With the win, Einarson’s team will now represent Canada at the 2023 Women’s World Curling Championship. The tournament starts March 18 in Sandviken, Sweden.
