Connor McDavid named NHL First Star of the Week to close out February

Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid of Richmond Hill, Ontario is the National Hockey League First Star of the Week for the week from February 20-26. In three games, he had six goals and five assists for 11 points.

McDavid began the week with two goals and one assist for three points in a 4-2 Oilers win over the Philadelphia Flyers on February 21. He then had two goals and two assists for four points in a 7-2 Oilers win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 23, and then two goals and two assists for four points in a 6-5 Oilers loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on February 25.

In addition to the 11 points, McDavid was a +7 with four power-play points, two shorthanded points, one game-winning goal, 23 shots on goal, six hits, one blocked shot, and 25 faceoff wins. In 61 games this season, McDavid had 50 goals and 65 assists for 115 points. He is a +9 with 22 penalty minutes, 54 power-play points, five shorthanded points, eight game-winning goals, 272 shots on goal, 381 faceoff wins, 33 blocked shots, 67 hits, 60 takeaways, and 63 giveaways. McDavid leads the NHL in goals, assists and points.

The Oilers are in third place in the Pacific Division with a record of 32 wins, 21 regulation losses and eight losses in extra time for 72 points. They lead the Calgary Flames by six points for a playoff spot.
