Jordan Kyrou records his first career NHL hat trick

St. Louis Blues center Jordan Kyrou of Toronto, Ontario recorded his first National Hockey League hat trick on Monday. It came in a 5-1 Blues win over the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Kyrou opened the scoring at 10:25 of the second period from Nick Leddy and Vladimir Tarasenko. He then scored at 1:07 of the third period on the power-play from Tarasenko and Torey Krug to put the Blues up 4-1, and then closed out the scoring at 9:19 of the third period from Robert Thomas of Aurora, Ontario and Tarasenko.

Kyrou was one of two Canadians on the Blues with a multi-point game. The other was Thomas, who had one goal and one assist for two points. Kyrou actually had four points, as he assisted on Thomas’s power-play goal at 18:50 of the second period, which put the Blues up 3-1.

On the season, Kyrou has 16 goals and 16 assists for 32 points in 31 games. He is a -16 with six penalty minutes, 11 power-play points, two game-winning goals, one shorthanded point, 108 shots on goal, three faceoff wins, 15 blocked shots, six hits, 24 takeaways and 26 giveaways.

Kyrou’s game-winning goals came in a 3-2 Blues win over the Colorado Avalanche on November 14, and in a 5-4 Blues win over the Florida Panthers on November 26. His shorthanded point was an assist on a goal by Thomas in a 4-3 Blues win over the Edmonton Oilers on December 15.

With the win, the Blues improve to a record of 16 wins, 15 regulation losses, and one loss in extra time for 33 points. They are three points back of the Colorado Avalanche for a playoff spot.
