Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta and Brett Gallant of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island remain undefeated at the 2024-25 Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Olympic Trials from the Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool, Nova Scotia. Peterman and Gallant, who are married and based in Calgary, have a perfect record of eight wins and zero losses.
Peterman and Gallant won two games each on Wednesday and Thursday. Since discussing their dominant 8-1 win over the father/daughter duo of Jaelyn and Jim Cotter of Vernon, British Columbia, Peterman and Gallant improved to a record of six wins and zero losses after defeating Jennifer Armstrong of Saint John, New Brunswick and Tyrel Griffith of Kelowna, British Columbia 5-2. Then on Thursday, Peterman and Gallant beat the Manitoba-based mixed doubles specialist duo of Kadriana and Colton Lott 9-6 to close out Pool B and then beat Rachel Homan of Ottawa, Ontario and Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton, Alberta 8-4 to begin the Championship round.
Next up for Peterman and Gallant will be Lisa Weagle of Ottawa, Ontario and John Epping of Toronto, Ontario in the 1-2 page playoff game. Homan and Bottcher are playing Cotter and Cotter in one of two 3/4 qualifying games. The other 3/4 qualifying game features Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Brent Laing of Meaford, Ontario versus Brittany Tran of Red Deer and Rylan Kleier of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
Meanwhile in other curling news, Karlee Burgess has left Chelsea Carey’s team in Manitoba. This decision is significant because Carey will no longer be one of the wildcard teams at the 2025 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario. They will be replaced by Selena Sturmay of Edmonton.
