Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Kurtis Rourke of Oakville, Ontario has won the 20214 Jon Cornish Award according to the Canadian Press on Monday. The award is presented to the best Canadian football player on an annual basis in the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Kurtis Rourke, is the younger brother of British Columbia Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke of Victoria, British Columbia. While representing Ohio University, Nathan Rourke won the Jon Cornish Award in back-to-back years in 2017 and 2018. Interestingly, the Rourke brothers are the only two quarterbacks to ever win the award.

This past season, Kurtis Rourke completed 222 passes in 320 attempts for 3042 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns and five interceptions. He also had two rushing touchdowns. Rourke led the Big Ten in passing touchdowns, yards gained per pass attempt (9.5), yards gained per pass completion (13.7), and quarterback rating (176). Rourke had more passing touchdowns than Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who has led the Ducks to an undefeated record heading into the playoffs. Gabriel had 28 passing touchdowns.

Rourke was a senior this past year at Indiana. He had a season high 380 passing yards on October 5 in a 41-24 Indiana win over Northwestern, and a season high six touchdown passes on November 30 in a 66-0 Indiana win over Purdue.

In other Canadian football news, the Calgary Stampeders have traded quarterback Jake Maier to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. In return, the Stampeders get an eighth round pick.
